About Suzanne

For over 25 years, Suzanne has provided counseling and psychotherapy for children (ages 9 -12), adolescents, adults, couples and families. She is one of the two founding partners of Century Mental Health, Inc. in Columbia, Maryland.

A Board Certified Diplomate and a member of The Academy of Certified Social Workers, Suzanne treats a wide range of problems in her general therapy practice. She is one of a limited number of health professionals in Maryland or the United States the professional distinction of Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS). She treats anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, emotional overeating and other associated issues. Suzanne holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Maryland and a Masters degree (MSW) from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. In 1995, she received her CEDS certification from the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp). In 2007, Suzanne became an iaedp Approved Supervisor in Eating Disorders, one of less than 30 in the United States and the only one in Maryland.

Integrating years of training in cognitive, behavioral, affective, psychodynamic, dialectical, Rogerian and experiential therapies, Suzanne helps her clients achieve more balanced, satisfying and fulfilling lives. Her training in non-traditional therapy techniques includes mind / body work, guided imagery, relaxation breathing, mindfulness, and Ericksonian Self-Hypnosis.

Suzanne currently serves on the Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA) Board of Directors and is a Senior Consultant and Supervisor at for Pershing Turner Centers for Eating Disorders in Annapolis Maryland and Ann Arbor, Michigan.

A former elementary school teacher, Suzanne is a workshop leader, educator and business consultant She is also the author of In Vision Concept Cards (2009) a flashcard technique she developed to help her clients learn important life skill and concepts.
